DIY Anniversary Gifts (Candle, Mug, - u0026 Card)
hey youtubers it's Lauren from total
Betty society and I'm here today to show
off three super cute do-it-yourself
Valentine's Day gifts well first take a
look at how to transfer a
black-and-white photo to a glass votive
candle holder then I'll show you how to
decorate a coffee mug and saucer and
we'll end with a scratch-off lottery
style card so let's get started
this first gift has been seen floating
around Pinterest recently and actually
turned out really well
we will be taking glass votive candle
holders and transferring black-and-white
pictures to them for a personal touch to
this common romantic gift so after
gathering your supplies cut out your
desired pictures to fit the outside of
your votive candle holders remember to
print your pictures using a laser
printer the toner is actually with
sticks to the contact paper which inkjet
printers don't use
then we're going to trace out the
contact paper using a pin do this with
all your pictures
now begin peeling the back of your
contact paper off and attaching the
photos ink side down on the sticky
contact paper after making sure the
contact paper is secure dunk your photos
in a bath of warm water and let them
soak for at least 7 minutes
don't freak if they curl up they will
lay straight when dry
now take a trip to your sink and begin
gently rubbing the soggy paper under a
stream of warm water don't press too
hard or else the toner will come off
with a paper this may take several tries
until you get all the paper off but be
patient let the photos dry with the
soon-to-be sticky side facing up they
will become tacky when all the water and
paper is removed dry carefully place on
your glass votive candle holder and
smooth over until it sticks
if you're having trouble getting the
photos to stick you can always use some
spray adhesive for extra tackiness and
there we go - beautiful and personal
candle holders for your loved one now a
gift for the caffeine addict in your
life using only two different colored
sharpies and a white mug you can create
a fun and customized gift with song
lyrics doodles or inside jokes of course
don't forget to fill the mug with extra
sweet goodies for your Valentine to
enjoy one of my favorite love songs is
Christina Perry's a thousand years so I
took my pink sharpie and wrote some of
the lyrics in cursive following the
curves of the saucer
if you run out of room no worries simply
continue your lyrics on the inside
circle next I wanted to fill up the big
white space so I drew a large heart with
my black sharpie don't like hearts try
lips or X's and O's really anything that
is romantic to you keep adding details
until you are satisfied with your design
now for the coffee mug I wanted to play
off the heart shape handle and continue
the heart and black sharpie
you
for the rest of the mug I'm using a
reference to my favorite Disney movie
but you don't have to be that corny try
a chevron pattern or even large polka
dots
seriously the possibilities are endless
after adding all the cute details to
your mug stick both pieces in a cool
oven then turn the oven up to 350
degrees and let it sit for 30 minutes
turn off the oven and let your mug and
sauce are cool with it to make your
design stay extra long either hand wash
or use a sealing spray to cover each
piece how absolutely adorable is this
thinking about giving someone a
Valentine's Day card but not sure how to
make it not boring then follow this
simple tutorial for creating scratch-off
hearts on the inside of your card just
like a lotto ticket after getting all
your materials together begin creating
the base of your card using thick
scrapbook paper I chose a neutral yet
sparkly white piece cut the paper down
to the desired size
taking fun and cue scrapbook paper began
cutting out shapes designs and words to
decorate your card
arrange the shapes any way you want you
can also go back after gluing them down
and add some hand-drawn designs like I
did now for the inside of the card which
is the really cool part we are going to
make three scratch-off hearts that have
sweet romantic acts you don't usually do
for your partner written underneath just
present them with the card and let them
choose when to scratch off how fun is
that I then wrote in the options in each
heart using a skinny tipped sharpie they
read breakfast in bed back massage and
sexy car wash get creative once the
Sharpie is dry cover the entire heart
with white crayon making sure it is a
thick layer the wax from the crayon is
actually what protects the words we
wrote and allows the silver paint to be
scratched off later wipe off any excess
crayon now we mix two part silver paint
to one part dish soap on a plate and
paint over the area we covered with
crayon the soap makes the paint easier
to scratch off
it took two layers for the words to be
completely covered on mine now just let
it dry and that's it so what do you
think pretty easy and totally doable
